Program Description

The mission of the Communication program is to prepare students to successfully consider and express information both orally and in writing in order to create better lives for themselves and others in a global economy and democratic society. This diverse discipline of communication focuses on how people use messages to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media. The program curriculum promotes the effective and ethical practice of human communication which includes critical thinking, innovation, civic engagement, and creative endeavors that produce and reproduce our social world. Students are provided a number of opportunities to apply their learning and gain work experience through internships, service-learning projects, work-study, school and community service, student clubs, presentations, symposiums, and more.

Completion of the program is designed to result in an Associate of Arts degree and meets the general-education requirements of all Idaho public universities. Course selection should be coordinated to meet requirements for your intended transfer institution, if known.
