The Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology program offers a Basic Technical Certificate (BTC) that will provide training in quality control, statistical processing, and semiconductor nanofabrication manufacturing processes. This specialized training will provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin a career as an entry-level lab/SEM or manufacturing technician in the semiconductor industry.
The demand for skilled workers in this discipline is high, as automation and high-tech equipment are becoming more and more embedded in the semiconductor manufacturing process.
The College of Western Idaho currently has a very strong established partnership with local semiconductor manufacturers such as Micron. Prepare yourself for success now by acquiring skills that are in high demand!
Note: For students who want to earn an associate degree and/or transfer to a four-year institution, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Associate of Science degree program is an excellent option. All courses required for the Semiconductor BTC may also apply towards the fulfillment of STEM AS requirements. For help creating a course plan that includes both the SMT BTC and the STEM AS, be sure to meet with your advisor before registering for classes.
