Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Develop knowledge of the history, structure, and culture of the fire service.
- Develop knowledge of the regulations and laws pertinent to the fire service.
- Develop knowledge of fire behavior.
- Develop knowledge of firefighting tools and tactics.
- Develop knowledge of building construction and its role in firefighting.
- Develop knowledge of safety, prevention, fire protection, and/or health measures related to the fire service.
- Demonstrate the required knowledge and skills to succeed as a fire company officer.
- Demonstrate the skills and abilities required to succeed in the fire service over time.
- Demonstrate the high standards of ethical behavior required of a fire company officer.
- Demonstrate lifestyle behaviors required for a successful career as a fire company officer (e.g. regular exercise, participation in community service activities, lifelong learning, etc.).
