FIRE 110 Physical Fitness for Firefighters may be repeated for up to three credits and is recommended to fulfill any remaining elective credits needed to complete this program.

The Associate of Arts degree offers two options for completion:
- Fire Service Technology Option 1 requires completion of FIRE 101 Fire Fighter, which involves classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and participation in live burns. Additionally, upon successful completion of FIRE 101, students are afforded an opportunity to take the IFSAC Firefighter I exam, proctored by Idaho Fire Science Technology.
- Fire Service Technology Option 2 provides a classroom learning experience for students of all ages and abilities without skills manipulation or live burn participation.

The option to take FIRE 160, FIRE 165, and FIRE 170 instead of FIRE 290 is only available to students who choose to complete Fire Service Technology Option 1 and successfully pass FIRE 101. Please refer to the Work Experience course descriptions for further information. (Students who choose to complete Fire Service Technology Option 2 will need to take FIRE 290.)
Degree Plans
The course sequence listed below is strongly recommended in order to complete your program requirements. Many Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses have prerequisites and/or corequisites that have been accounted for within this course sequence plan. Please register for your major requirements each semester as shown below using the Student Planning tool in myCWI. Consult your advisor for any questions regarding this plan.
NOTE: The required general education courses may be completed during any semester the student prefers, including summer semesters.
The Fire Service Technology Associate of Arts degree offers two options for completion:
Fire Service Technology Option 1 requires completion of FIRE 101 Fire Fighter, which involves classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and participation in live burns. Additionally, upon successful completion of FIRE 101, students are afforded an opportunity to take the IFSAC Firefighter I exam, proctored by Idaho Fire Science Technology. NOTE: The choice to complete FIRE 160, FIRE 165, and FIRE 170 instead of FIRE 290 is only available to students who select this option and successfully pass FIRE 101.
Fire Service Technology Option 2 provides a classroom learning experience for students of all ages and abilities without skills manipulation or live burn participation.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Develop knowledge of the history, structure, and culture of the fire service.
- Develop knowledge of the regulations and laws pertinent to the fire service.
- Develop knowledge of fire behavior.
- Develop knowledge of firefighting tools and tactics.
- Develop knowledge of building construction and its role in firefighting.
- Develop knowledge of safety, prevention, fire protection, and/or health measures related to the fire service.
- Demonstrate the required knowledge and skills to succeed as an entry-level fire fighter.
- Demonstrate the skills and abilities required to succeed in the fire service over time.
- Demonstrate the high standards of ethical behavior required of a fire fighter.
- Demonstrate lifestyle behaviors required for a successful career as a fire fighter (e.g., regular exercise, participation in community service activities, lifelong learning, etc.).
