ECED 101 Child Development and Guidance

Explores the interrelationship of developmental age/stage and the growth of self-control from birth to age eight. Models of positive guidance techniques for parents and caregivers will be studied. ECED 105 Teaching Young Children I

ECED 106 Teaching Young Children II

ECED 203L Early Childhood Education Practicum Lab

Students assume responsibility for all aspects of curriculum planning, implementation, classroom management, and parent communication under the supervision of the head teacher and program instructor in a child care classroom within the community. ECED 220 Inclusion in Early Childhood Programs

ECED 232 Early Childhood Program Administration

Includes establishing and operating a childcare home, center, or preschool; developing a business plan, budgeting, legal requirements, marketing, working with parents and staff, grouping children, and designing the environment. ECED 257 Infant and Toddler Care and Education

Care and education of children from birth to age three in group settings. Emphasis on supporting the unique needs of very young children and their parents, developing appropriate policies, procedures, environments, and activities. Includes supervised fieldwork. ECED 290 Early Childhood Education Capstone

This course focuses on advocacy and professionalism in the early childhood education field. Students will learn about professional organizations and networking and refine their reflective practice. This capstone should be completed during a student's final semester and requires passing the NOCTI Early Childhood-Advanced exam with a score of 70 or above. PREREQ: ECED 100, ECED 101, ECED 105, ECED 105L, ECED 106, ECED 106L, ECED 141, ECED 171, ECED 173, ECED 184, and PERM/INST. ECED 293 Early Childhood Education Internship

ECED 296 Early Childhood Education Independent Study
(1-10 Credits, Varies)
This is a term long project. Each credit hour is equivalent to 45 hours of work on a project. Students should make arrangements with the instructor in their field of interest. Before enrolling for independent study, a student must obtain approval of the department chair and dean, acting on the recommendation of the instructor who will be supervising the independent study. An Independent Study Registration Form must be completed and turned into a One Stop Student Services location before a student may register for this course. PREREQ: PERM/INST and submission of a completed Independent Study Registration Form. (0 lecture hours, 0 lab hours, 1 credits)
